Introduction to CAN...

Founded on August 30, 2010 in hopes to create a spirit of cooperation among the arts community. By doing this, we pull together varied resources to enhance the community by providing a space to create and learn, work, with an emphasis on children, the elderly and our veterans . Our ultimate goal is to provide services for all artists.

How CAN began...

The idea for the artist's co-op came from Tammy Fujibayashi and the late Paula Patterson. What started as a drive to Chaffee Crossing led to the founding of our charity. After meeting with Ivy Owen of Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority a lease was signed for the barrack located at 7408 Buckhorn, building 825 in the historic district. Now CAN is recognized as a 501 3C non-profit public charity. With the help of many volunteers and local companies the building has been renovated.

Justin Fujibayashi Memorial...

Justin Fujibayashi, the son of Carter Fujibayashi and Maggie Woodhull, was an artist his whole life. In Dec 2006, Justin Fujibayashi died in a car crash. The Fujibayashi family poured all of their efforts into making the foundation stand for the artistic ideals held by Justin before his death.
